All governments support vaccination programs. Vaccines undergo more than 10 years of research and safety testing and rigorous approval processes before governments allow them for widespread release. Vaccines save millions of lives every year. It needs to be said that it was the government of Samoa that stopped the MMR vaccinations for around 5 months last year whilst investigating the cause of death of the 2 infants. It was nothing to do with reluctant parents. Despite the temporary break in the vaccination schedule, there were no cases of measles right up until August this year. Where did they suddenly appear from (New Zealand ?) and what made them so virulent?
